Who Am I

I have been a physician, scientist, and soldier. I have always been drawn to telling stories in film beginning in high school. However, initially, heeded the calling of medicine and science. For the second half of my life journey, I have decided that I want to leave a lasting legacy in this world by telling the stories that have not been told. Therefore, at the age of 58 I enrolled in film school and here I am.

 

I was born in North Carolina to a Panamanian father and Spaniard mother. Soon after my birth the family moved to Panama where I grew up until age 16. At that point I came to the US to attend college and go to medical school. Following medical school and residency, I joined the US Army to pay back for a medical school scholarship. I was in the Army for 20 years that included many assignments to risky places, including two wars. After retirement from the Army at age 48, I joined Penn State College of Medicine where I worked for an additional 10 years.

 

I am currently in my first year of my MFA in motion pictures at the University of Miami.
